About We Become What We Behold
We Become What We Behold is an ultra-brief point-and-click experience that puts you in the shoes of a photojournalist. Your role is straightforward: lift the camera, observe the scene, and decide which moments to capture. Each photograph is immediately broadcast and helps shape how the “square” and “circle” characters are perceived and how their story progresses.
With a stripped-down yet clever design, the game probes how media choices can influence collective behavior and public perception.
Gameplay and mission
Capture or Ignore — That Is the Choice
Use the mouse to aim and snap pictures. Every photo shows up on a small TV screen for all characters to watch and react to.
Change community behavior
For example, photographing “the man with a hat” leads others to adopt hats too. Trends spread quickly, but once something becomes too common, characters grow bored and abandon it.
When “peace” becomes breaking news
Capturing scenes of anger or violence has a stronger effect: fear rises, society fragments, and unrest escalates. The more you emphasize conflict, the faster those emotions spread through the community.
An unsettling ending
The game ends on a scene of mounting chaos before fading to black — a haunting reminder that we become what we behold.
